One of the most unique clothes washing detergents I have ever seen comes from a company called PotatoFinger (don't you love that name?). The detergent is called Lullwater Soap Nuts, and it is actually made from real nuts from trees found in tropical climates.
They do look like nut shells, and when I pulled them out of the bag, I could not believe I was going to actually attempt to wash a load of clothes with them. They need to be put inside the cotton pull-string bag included in the package and tossed in your washer. Amazingly enough, they seemed to do a pretty good job at washing my clothing. I didn't put in anything too greasy, just clothing worn for a couple of days over normal circumstances, but they came out clean. This was regular clothes washing, without any stains or grease spots, but for everyday clothing, Soap Nuts worked for me, and in that respect, I imagine they will work for you!
Try soap nuts for everyday washing, you may never go back to conventional detergents again!
